Bold and Final Score Predictions For Duke v Louisville

Offensive Bold Prediction:

Jack Plummer has a bounceback game.

Jack Plummer has had his moments in a Cardinal uniform this season, and the best times have been at home. I’m sure Brohm has been in Plummers ear since the bad turnovers in the Pitt loss, and I would expect him to come out trying to prove wrong all the people who said he wasn’t good enough.

I expect Plummer to bounce back and throw for over 175 yards and 2 TD passes, with at least one of them going to Jamari Thrash.

Defensive Bold  Prediction:

Louisville shuts down Duke’s passing attack.

Louisville’s front 7 have been extremely impressive this season, and they built up momentum in every game this season. In the Pitt game however, it seemed like everything was deflated and that the Cardinal front struggled against a weak Pitt offensive line. I’m looking to see guys like Ashton Gillotte and Mason Reiger to get back to where they were, and to get a decent amount of sacks and tackles for loss in this game. Duke is good in the trenches and running the ball, but the defense should look to stack the box and blitz on the outside. If Louisville can make Duke win the game through the air with a 50% or 2nd string QB, they will be in a good spot to win.

Final Game Prediction:

Duke Blue Devils 20, Louisville Cardinals 31

Louisville will be looking to show the college football world that the Pitt loss was just a fluke and that with this win over Duke they are a real threat in the ACC. I think the Cardinals come out strong in the first couple drives with Plummer making some big throws for 1st downs and the rushing attack doing just enough to move the ball to the right spots. I do think Duke pulls a little closer in the 2nd half, but the Cardinals pull away in the 4th quarter.

I also expect Jeff Brohm to be on point with his play calling today. Brohm will want to plan out the offense to perfection, and I think with a top 20 matchup at home he will call the right plays when they are needed. If Jawhar Jordan plays I can also see Louisville being very well lit offensively today.

The Cardinal defense I think will also get to the quarterback when it matters most. Duke will have success running the ball just as they have all season, but I’m not sure it’s enough for them to win the game. The Cardinal defense also just gets up for big games like this, just ask Sam Hartman.

Louisville outlasts Duke at home to advance to 7-1 and into the top 15 of the CFB rankings come sunday night.
