Louisville football: 4 players who (probably) won’t be back in 2024

Pierce Clarkson, freshman
One of these things is not like the others, It’s Pierce Clarkson. Jeff Brohm has a type, he wants tall sturdy quarterbacks. Jack Plummer is 6-foot-5, so is QB2 Harrison Bailey and redshirt freshman Brady Allen is an inch taller at 6-foot-6. Clarkson on the other hand is 5-foot-11.
There’s a very crowded quarterback room in Louisville. In one recruiting and portal cycle, Brohm brought in Plummer from Cal, Bailey from UNLV, and Allen came with him from Purdue. Clarkson was a four-star recruit and as a freshman is either QB4 or QB5.
Bailey is the favorite to take over as QB1 next season, but the former four-star Allen will likely be given a shot at the job. If Clarkson doesn’t transfer right after the season, he’ll compete in winter practices and unless he really impresses Brohm, he’ll head into spring behind both Bailey and Allen, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he explored his option in the portal.
