Louisville Lands Transfer QB Tyler Shough For 2024 Class

Louisville lands first transfer of the offseason and it is a huge pickup
The Louisville Cardinals landed there first big pickup of the offseason, and it was a major pickup. The Cardinals landed transfer QB Tyler Shough, who has been at Oregon and Texas Tech in his college career. He started his college career in 2018, and will come into the 2024 season as a 7th year senior.
Pete Thamel broke the news tonight that Louisville would be bringing in the 24 year old player.
Shough played in 4 games at Texas Tech in 2023, but only played 3 full games. Shough was looking to get back on track this year for the Red Raiders, but injuries plagued him and that is really the story of his career. If Shough can stay healthy then he could end up being a really great edition for the Cardinals.
Shough was a possible NFL prospect at Oregon and Jeff Brohm is looking to get him back to that type of player he used to be. Shough will be a bit more mobile than Jack Plummer, and even put up some very impressive numbers in his very short 2023 campaign.
Shough threw for 282 yards, 101 rushing yards, and 4 total touchdowns against Oregon early in the season, and proved that he has the ability to be fairly successful quarterback. With Jeff Brohm being a known quarterback whisperer, I wouldn’t be surprised if Shough flourishes under this lethal Louisville offense. Especially if key players like Jawhar Jordan return for the 2024 season.
Shough will likely be the starter for Jeff Brohm’s team in 2024, and Pierce Clarkson will likely back him up. If for some reason he goes down with an injury, Louisville will still have Clarkson to step in, so the Cardinals are in good hands here.
Jeff Brohm is just getting started for the 2023 offseason.
