Who will be throwing the ball for the Louisville Cardinals in 2024?
Jeff Brohm led Louisville football to great heights in his first season coaching the Cardinals. They finished with a 10-2 record at the end of the regular season, lost to Florida State in the ACC Championship, and still will face the USC Trojans in the Holiday bowl to officially end the season on December 27th.
Jack Plummer was the lead man on the offense, and while he did the job just good enough, he certainly had his downfalls throughout the season. Plummer made the throws needed to win games, but when it came to making big throws and throws that would lead Louisville to win, he certainly struggled. That was extremely evident in the losses to Kentucky and Pitt. Plummer had some costly picks and fumbles that caused Louisville the game, and that was evident throughout the season.
Brohm has already went out to get a transfer quarterback, and he got one already with 7th year senior from Texas Tech Tyler Shough. Shough is a very talented balanced QB who has been held back by injuries throughout his career, as he was once the starter for Oregon early in his career.
The Cardinals will also have Sophomore Pierce Clarkson the roster, and he is a another question Brohm will have to answer. Clarkson was a key part of the highly touted 2023 recruiting class last offseason, and he was the starting point of it all. It was looking like Clarkson would possibly get the starting position in 2024, but it is looking like Brohm will want a more experienced QB, at least to start the year.
Brohm could also however, bring in another transfer quarterback. Dj Uiagalelei had Louisville near the top of his list, and even though Brohm brought in one transfer QB, that doesn’t mean he still can’t bring in another.
Jeff Brohm will make the best decision ultimately for the Cardinals, and fans should have all their faith in Brohm making the right decisions for who will be throwing the ball in red come 2024.
