Louisville football opens its 2025 season this afternoon against Eastern Kentucky, as the wait is finally over. The long offseason comes to an end, and Miller Moss will make his much-anticipated debut for Jeff Brohm's Cardinals.
In Week 1, it is nearly impossible to predict the score of the game, as the Cardinals open as dominant favorites. That said, why not make some bold predictions ahead of the Cardinals and Colonels showdown, and predict some dominant performances from the Louisville Cardinals in Week 1? So, here are three bold predictions to happen during the Cardinals’ Week 1 win over Eastern Kentucky
Miller Moss throws four touchdown passes
Starting with the transfer quarterback from USC, Miller Moss is poised for a Week 1 breakout game. Moss has high expectations entering Week 1 and has a big chip on his shoulder after being benched in 2024 by Lincoln Riley.
Last year, Tyler Shough threw for 232 yards and four touchdowns in his debut against Austin Peay, and Louisville fans can expect similar results today. Moss has heard all offseason that he is the Cardinals' most important player and that the season rests on his shoulders. So, Week 1, Moss will set the tone for the Cardinals' 2025 season and prove to the nation he can be a star quarterback in this league and will throw for four touchdowns.

Louisville's defensive line earns seven or more sacks
Louisville's defensive line has been receiving high praise all offseason, and they will prove why in Week 1. The Cardinals' defense has some areas of concern entering the 2025 season, and they have heard all the negative comments all summer. So, what will they do? Send a message and record seven or more sacks.
Newcomers Clev Lubin and Wes Bailey will log at least one sack in their debut and will be some of the Cardinals' stars entering Week 2. Eastern Kentucky lost four of its five starters on the offensive line from last season, causing Louisville's defensive line to have a field day in Week 1.
Cardinals rush for 300 yards or more
After Eastern Kentucky's linebacker threw L's down and mocked the Cardinals' star running back, Isaac Brown, the Cardinals' fans expect this rushing attack to dominate even more. Brown and Duke Watson will rush for over 200 yards themselves, and Keyjuan Brown will join the party and get some big plays as well.
Louisville's offensive line should dominate the trenches and make it easy for the running backs, setting up big plays just like last year when Brown broke loose for 77 yards, and Watson broke loose for 58 yards. Louisville will finish the game with 300 rushing yards or more and head into Week 2 feeling confident.
