2. Offensive Line Play

Louisville’s offensive line has been the team’s biggest weakness through five games. The unit ranks in the bottom third nationally across nearly every major metric. They rank 107th in FBS, giving up 2.6 sacks per game, and 111th in allowing tackles for loss with 6.4 per game. If you need more evidence, their team's pass blocking grade ranks 83rd, while their run blocking as a team is even worse, ranking 123rd among FBS teams. Constant shuffling hasn’t helped;  the Cards have already used three different starting lineups. Center Pete Nygra, the group’s top performer, grades out at just 62.0, underscoring the inconsistency across the line.

The silver lining? Miami’s pass rush hasn’t been dominant, ranking 71st with 12 sacks through five games (2.4 per game). If Brohm and his staff used the bye week to reset and simplify protections, the line could finally take a step forward. Louisville’s path to an upset depends on keeping Miller Moss upright and giving its dynamic backs room to operate. If the offensive line can hold its own, the Cardinals’ skill talent can do the rest.
