Louisville football recently learned that its 4-star quarterback had decommitted, forcing Brohm to find a new quarterback in this class. Wasting no time, Louisville offered local 3-star Dre'Mail Carothers an offer, and he is now emerging as someone who could commit to Louisville next.

Carothers attends Owensboro High School, where he has had an impressive high school career so far, completing 67 percent of his passes and throwing for 4,001 yards, 49 touchdowns, and eight interceptions last season alone.

He visited Louisville earlier this month, and the Cardinals are among seven schools that have extended an offer to the Kentucky native. North Carolina has a visit lined up in May, and Purdue, Mississippi State, and Oregon State have unofficial visits scheduled as well. The 3-star quarterback ranks No. 580 in the 2027 recruiting class and No. 39 among quarterbacks.
