Earlier this week Dani Busboom Kelly accepted the head coach position at the University of Nebraska.
Busboom Kelley led this Cardinal squad to two national championships, where they fell short both times. She was named the head coach back in 2017, where in her eight seasons, she had an impressive winning percentage of 82% and an overall record of 203-44.
The Cardinals officially hire Dan Meske to be their new women’s volleyball head coach. Meske was Busboom Kelley associate coach, as he also joined the Cardinals back in 2017.
Here are three glaring stats proves Dan Meske will lead Louisville Women’s Volleyball to glory and secure their first title in program history.
Dominant record as head coach
Before being the Associate Coach at Louisville, Dan Meske was the head coach of the Augustana Vikings where he had an impressive 45-17 record over the spam of two season. Meske led the Vikings to their first NCAA Tournament appearances in 2016 since 2008. They finished that year 27-6 as they secured their first tournament win since 2006.
Meske has made to a total of 17 NCAA Tournament appearances and won eight conference titles and has been dominant in his coaching career.
A certified winner
Dan Meske is a certified winner and has helped lead this Louisville program as one of the most dominant programs in the nation. In Mesk’s tenure at Louisville he has guided this Cardinal volleyball team to an impressive 203-44 overall record since 2017.
Meske has halped lead this elite program to now four Final Four appearances in the last five season and two National Championship appearances in the last three years. In 2022, Meske was named the 2022 AVCA National Assistant Coach of the Year.
Historic season set's Meske up for success
Dan Meske has not only helped lead this Cardinals team to become an elite Volleyball program, but he has also led them to historic seasons. As an associate coach, Meske helped lead Louisville Cardinals Women’s volleyball team to their first ever Final Four appearance back in 2021.
The Cardinals 2021 season was quite arguably the best season in program where they went 32-1 and secured not only the ACC title but won 32 straight matches and rattled off an astounding 28-0 record in the regular season. They were ranked No.1 for the first time in program history. The undefeated regular season record was first time in program history and was the first time a team had such accomplishment since Missouri back in 2013. Their historic season would fall short, however they would make it to the National Championship for the first time in Cardinal history.
It is hard to replace Dani Busboom Kelly, but it is safe to say Dan Meske is as good as it gets, and the Cardinals are in good hands.
