Louisville football fans are growing increasingly anxious about their head coach, Jeff Brohm, and rumors about a move to Michigan. Cardinals fans thought they were going to lock up their coach with an extension and raise, but the report was over a month ago, and nothing has come up since. The Cards were able to keep Brohm from leaving his alma mater for programs like Penn State, Florida, and LSU, but these Michigan rumors are gaining traction.

It was reported that Michigan contacted Brohm on Sunday to discuss the opening job, and now it appears Louisville and Michigan fans will learn whether he leaves after the game this afternoon. The Cardinals will face Toledo in the Boca Raton Bowl at 2 p.m. and while Louisville fans would like to sit back, relax, and watch their Cards try to earn their ninth win of the season, they are now anxiously watching and listening to see if Brohm is leaving for the Wolverines.

The goal and dream are, of course, to keep Brohm, but with these rumors gaining traction, here are three Jeff Brohm replacements Louisville should be considering amid Michigan rumors.

3. Tommy Rees, Browns OC

Tommy Rees is a former quarterback for Notre Dame and was the Fighting Irish quarterback coach from 2017 to 2020 until he was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2020. He was the OC for the Irish from 2020 to 2022, then took the OC position at Alabama and coached under Nick Saban in 2023. From there, he went to the NFL, where he served as the Browns' tight ends coach and pass game specialist until he was promoted again to the Browns' OC. Rees has never been a head coach, and with Louisville's beloved quarterback, he would be a dream candidate.

2. Kyle Whittingham, Utah

Recently, Utah's Kyle Whittingham stepped down from Utah, and if he is interested in still coaching, he should be one of the top choices for the Cardinals. he has proven he can win as he boasts a 177-88 record with Utah in his 22 seasons, including his 10-2 record this year. The Cardinals love the quarterback position, and Whittingham has had some solid coaches play for him during his 22 seasons.

1. Brian Brohm, Louisville OC

The best candidate for Louisville to replace Jeff Brohm would be to keep their OC and QB coach, Brian, Jeff's brother. Brian Brohm has been with Louisville since Brian was named the head coach in 2023. If Jeff goes to Michigan, Louisville fans would assume Brian would follow, but if the Cards offer Brian the head coach job, would Brian want to take over the Cardinals program, or would he want to follow his brother?

Brian already knows the program, and he has shown he can lead an elite offense. The Cards want to keep both, but if Jeff leaves Louisville, Brian is likely the best candidate to replace their current head coach.
