Well, who would’ve thought we’d be sitting at 5-1? Better yet, another solid week for the best bets, going 2-1 against Miami — hitting on an anytime touchdown and the under (51.5). Sure, we missed Louisville over 7.5 in the first half (it closed at 9.5), but considering that early burst helped them pull off the upset, that’s a trade every Louisville fan will take.
Now, the No. 19-ranked Cardinals enter Saturday night’s matchup against a struggling Boston College team as 25.5-point favorites at home. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m., and the total sits at 54.5, according to FanDuell.
BC comes in at 1-6, losers of six straight. On paper, it looks like a mismatch, but Jeff Brohm’s teams have historically struggled in “letdown” spots — he’s lost four games as a favorite following major wins in the past seven seasons. That’s what makes this one tricky to handicap.
3 locks for Louisville football vs. Boston College
1. 1st Half Total Over 28.5 Points (-104, FanDuel)
Boston College ranks 102nd nationally in total defense, and their games have been fireworks early — the first-half total has gone over 28.5 in six of seven games this year, with an average of 34.6 first-half points.
Louisville’s defense should keep BC in check, but even so, the Cardinals have allowed 17 first-half points per game in ACC play. Across their three conference matchups, first halves have averaged 32 total points, making this number feel very playable.
2. Boston College Over 13.5 Points (-130, FanDuel)
Louisville’s defense ranks top-10 nationally after suffocating No. 2 Miami, but the stats deserve context. Against FCS foe Eastern Kentucky, they still gave up 17 points. And in ACC play, opponents have averaged 26 points per game.
Boston College has been inconsistent but capable — averaging 20.6 points per game against FBS competition despite two sub-10-point outings.
The Cardinals might jump ahead early, but don’t be surprised if BC sneaks in a couple of late scores to clear 13.5. As strong as Louisville looked last week, they don’t face Carson Beck every Saturday.
3. Parlay: Isaac Brown Anytime TD / 70+ Rush Yards + Chris Bell 50+ Receiving Yards (-136, FanDuel)
Boston College’s defense is the definition of leaky — ranking 102nd in total defense, 61st against the run, and 117th against the pass. That’s a dream setup for Louisville’s playmakers.
Isaac Brown has topped 66 rushing yards in four of five games where he’s received multiple carries, surpassing 100 yards three times. BC has allowed 12 rushing TDs this season and multiple 100-yard rushers, so 70 yards and a touchdown feels well within reach.
As for Chris “Taco” Bell, he’s on a tear: nine catches and 135+ yards in three straight games, ranking among the nation’s top 15 in major receiving categories. His connection with quarterback Miller Moss keeps improving, and 50 yards should be a layup — with upside for much more.
