Ryan Conwell
When looking at this Louisville roster, two players immediately stand out: Mikel Brown Jr. and Ryan Conwell. The Cards have been led by these two stars all season, as each averages just around 18 points per game, but with Brown out of the lineup and this ACC Tournament crucial for the Cardinals, Pat Kelsey is going to need some big-time games from Conwell.
In Louisville’s 10 games without Brown, Conwell has played in nine of those and is averaging slightly above his normal at 18.9 points per game. With Louisville’s path to the ACC Championship game through SMU, Miami, and likely Virginia, the Cards need Conwell to be like himself in that first half against Miami, where he was scoring at will and opening the floor for Adrian Wooley, Isaac McKneely, but also the mid-range.
When Conwell is able to attack the angles and score at will, Louisville’s offense all of a sudden is firing on all cylinders. The Xavier transfer is one of the best pure scorers in college basketball, and with Brown now out of the ACC Tournament, Louisville will need him to put up around 20-25 points per game, as he did in the last three games without Brown.
