1. TJ Capers
TJ Capers is the Cardinals' hidden gem on this roster. The former 5-star recruit hasn't logged much playing time due to injuries in his first two seasons, but after turning heads in fall camp, it is clear Capers has an opportunity to prove why he was considered one of the best recruits in Louisville football history.
Capers was recruited in the 2023 recruiting class and was ranked as high as a top-five recruit before he reclassified into the 2024 cycle and joined Louisville a year earlier. Now, he has a chance to take on a bigger role, which he stated he was excited for this offseason.
The 6-foot-2, 225-pound linebacker earned some compliments from linebacker coach Mark Ivey this offseason, where Ivey stated he had a "great" spring camp and has shown drastic improvements, but must stay healthy. Now, with Clark out, Capers' time is now, and the 5-star recruit has a prime opportunity to make a name for himself and become Louisville's next star.
