Louisville basketball’s 2025-26 season concluded Saturday afternoon, and a huge what-if is in the air. The Cardinals' season was unfortunately spoiled by Mikel Brown Jr.'s injuries, which felt like a big reason the Cardinals didn’t live up to their preseason expectations.
However, injuries are part of sports, and the dominoes just don’t fall your way every time, unfortunately. Another what-if some fans are thinking about is the Transfer Portal targets Louisville missed last offseason. The Cardinals had a flaw against ranked teams, going 0-6 against teams ranked inside the top 20 this season. Looking at some of Pat Kelsey’s targets, some definitely could have helped Louisville’s NCAA Tournament run.
So, here are three missed transfer portal targets Louisville could have used for a March Madness run.
Keyshawn Hall
There is no question that the Cardinals missed some star power in their frontcourt. While Kelsey loved his small-ball lineup, it would have been nice to move Isaac McKneely to the bench, J’Vonne Hadley to the small forward position, and have a guy like Keyshawn Hall play power forward.
Louisville was one of the teams to reach out and contact Hall last offseason when he was transferring from UCF after he averaged 18.8 points on 42.7 percent shooting from the field. He started in 33 games, added 7.1 rebounds, and 2.4 assists, and would have been an elite scorer who could have helped the Cardinals a lot this season.
Hall went on to transfer to Auburn and had an even better season, averaging 19.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.6 assists, while shooting 44.5 percent from the floor and 37.7 percent from beyond the arc.
