Louisville football learned yesterday that its backup quarterback, Deuce Adams, will enter the Transfer Portal, confirming Jeff Brohm will once again go to the portal for his starting quarterback. The Cards have gone the portal route every year under Brohm for his quarterback, and the 2026 season appears to be no different.
However, this offseason feels a little different because, with Adams and Allen gone and the rumors about Louisville, it feels like Brohm is going after some of the top quarterbacks in the portal. There were rumors that the Cards were in contact with two of the top players in the portal, DJ Lagway and Dylan Raiola.
However, some fans have mixed feelings about these two quarterbacks because securing their commitment would cost Louisville millions of dollars, and they don't know whether they would be worth the money. So, if Louisville wants to go a different route, we are going to list three other QBs Louisville should target other than DJ Lagway and Dylan Raiola.

3. Deuce Knight
Someone with just as high a ceiling as Raiola and Lagway is the Auburn transfer Deuce Knight. The former 5-star recruit was the No. 28 overall recruit and the fifth-best quarterback in the 2025 class. He was a true freshman last season, allowing Brohm to develop him, and that is one of the biggest things the fans want is someone who can play here more than one season. In high school, he was one of the best dual-threat QBs, throwing for 2,067 yards and 25 touchdowns and running for 450 yards and 12 touchdowns. Last year at Auburn, he played in two games, including a game against Mercer, where he completed 75 percent of his passes for 239 yards and two touchdowns.
2. Kenny Minchey
The Notre Dame transfer who will cost the least out of anyone on this list is Kenny Minchey. After his first three seasons with the Irish, Minchey elected to hit the portal after losing the QB battle with CJ Carr. He was a former 4-star recruit out of high school and ranked as high as No. 171 in the 2023 class. Now, he ranks as the No. 10 best QB in the portal and No. 32 overall best player in the portal. He is a dual-threat quarterback who can extend plays with his legs and will be a redshirt junior next season. He completed 77 percent of his 26 passes in 2025 and threw 196 yards.
1. Josh Hoover
The perfect fit for Brohm and his style, and the one the fans want, is the TCU transfer, Josh Hoover. He has the most experience of any quarterback in the portal, having started every game over the last two seasons and eight games in 2023. He broke TCU’s record for most passing yards last year, throwing for 3,949 yards and leading TCU to a 9-4 record. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound QB has thrown for a combined 9,629 yards, 71 touchdowns while completing 65.2 percent of his passes in his four years. He won’t have multiple years of eligibility, but if Louisville can keep Isaac Brown and pair him up with Hoover, this offense in 2026 would be dominant.
