2. Get a stretch No. 4 or 5

The Cardinals currently lack some scorers in the forward position. James Scott had an exceptional season last year, but the Cardinals need a stretch forward or center who can provide more to the offense than a lob threat.

Louisville found out on Sunday that they are not a finalist to land Nick Davidson out of Nevada. The forward is one of the best forwards in the transfer portal and is ranked in the On3 top ten players available in the portal.

Louisville needs to return to the drawing boards and find that big man who can keep the court spaced and play good defense. The Cardinals' defense was a glaring weakness in the NCAA Tournament, and their size was a pivotal reason they had trouble guarding.

The Cards' need to find someone who is 6-foot-10, but can shoot decent from the field and beyond the paint. Scott is an elite lob-threat and a great rim protector, and Louisville will also get Kasean Pryor back if he doesn't enter the portal, but neither are players who can space the floor out and make the defense worry about them from beyond the arc.

Those two big men will be vital pieces to the Cardinals rotation, but Kelsey needs multiple lineups to be successful. Kelsey should be looking for someone who can takeover the game at the forward position and move Scott back to an elite piece off the bench.

Players that the Cardinals have already reached out to that would help in this area include, Amarri Monroe, Alex Steen, and a few others. The Cardinals need this player to have good size, be reliable from beyond the paint, and provide solid minutes as a starter or off the bench
