Louisville basketball is officially in the Transfer Portal stage, as Pat Kelsey will try to recruit from within and avoid any disaster scenarios like Adrian Wooley or Khani Rooths entering the portal, but he will also begin recruiting and reaching out to those who have already entered the Transfer Portal. Louisville will lose a lot this offseason as the Cardinals will have to replace their top four scorers from 2025-26.
5 Louisville basketball players who definitely won’t be back for the 2026-27 season
The Cardinals will lose four of their five starters, including Mikel Brown Jr., Ryan Conwell, and Isaac McKneely, forcing Kelsey to get some elite scorers and shooters. One thing Louisville and college basketball fans know is that Kelsey is going to get 3-point shooters, because he wants to shoot a lot of 3s.
And recently, an elite 3-point specialist just entered the portal, and it is hard to imagine Kelsey won’t at least reach out and try to get him to be a Cardinal.
Tyler Lundblade is the perfect target for Pat Kelsey and Louisville
Louisville has consistently lived and died from beyond the arc, and with the Cards having to replace their top three shooters from 2025-26, Tyler Lundblade should be at the top of Kelsey’s list.

The Belmont transfer won the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year after averaging 15.6 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.8 steals, and shooting 43 percent from the field and 40.6 percent from beyond the arc. The elite sharpshooter’s 115 made 3-pointer marks the sixth most in Division I, and his 3.6 3-pointers made per game also marked the sixth most in Division I.
The 6-foot-5, 195-pound shooting guard would shoot around nine 3’s per game as he averaged 8.8 3-pointers attempted per game, which was the tenth highest in Division I. He has one more year of eligibility left, and with his former Belmont head coach, Casey Alexander, taking the Kansas State head coach job, the Wildcats certainly have a lead, but Kelsey has the ability to recruit shooters and should reach out.
The Cardinals ranked fourth in 3-point attempts per game last season, averaging 32.2. A player like Lundblade has to love the style Kelsey plays, as Louisville likes to get out and run, and get open looks from beyond the arc. Louisville has a recent history of players shining from beyond the arc, as last year Ryan Conwell splashed 112 and Isaac McKneely made 96, and the year before Reyne Smith found the bottom of the net 107 times.
Lundblade is the exact type of player Kelsey loves to have on his team, as he tries to get at least one pure sharpshooter. Right now, the Belmont transfer is a 4-star transfer who ranks as high as No. 7 overall in the portal and No. 2 among shooting guards. The Cards will have a lot of work to do this offseason, and a player like Lundblade is someone Louisville fans should keep in mind.
