3. Get to the free throw line
In losses to Arkansas and Tennessee, Louisville attempted just 18 free throws in each game, going a combined 25-for-36 (69.4%). In their other nine games, the Cards average 27 free-throw attempts per game and shoot 77.7%, making about 21 attempts per contest.
That difference accounts for roughly eight points per game, but the impact goes beyond the scoreboard. Getting to the free-throw line disrupts the opposing team’s rhythm, breaks up offensive runs, and allows Louisville to manufacture points when shots aren’t falling.
If the Cards can consistently reach the free-throw line 25–28 times per game, it will go a long way toward helping them win close games in ACC play.
