3. USF averages over 65 shot attempts per game (3rd nationally)
If you think Louisville plays fast, South Florida takes it to another level. The Bulls rank 3rd in the country with over 65 shot attempts per game, while Louisville ranks 54th at 61.1. They also average 77.1 possessions per game compared to Louisville’s 72.4, which means they are consistently getting more opportunities within the same 40 minutes.
When a team takes at least four more shots and secures at least four more shots and gets around five more possessions per game, it becomes very difficult to keep up. The only Power Four team to get more possessions than USF is Alabama, and the Crimson Tide is also the only Power Four team to take more shots.
The usual advantage Louisville has with pace disappears in this matchup, and now they are the ones who have to adjust. The one positive is that Louisville shoots a higher percentage from the field, from three, and in effective field goal percentage, so efficiency will have to make up for the difference in volume.
