2. Dante Dowdell - RB
If Louisville is able to keep Isaac Brown, Keyjuan Brown, and Braxton Jennings, then the Cardinals don’t need a running back. But if the Cards lose any of those three, it would be a smart move to look for some depth, and Kentucky transfer Dante Dowdell is an excellent option.
With an incredibly high ceiling, Dowdell was ranked as a 4-star recruit out of high school. He was the No. 123 overall recruit in the 2023 class, the No. 6 running back, and the third-best player out of Mississippi. He now enters the portal for the fourth time, having originally committed to Oregon, then transferred to Nebraska, then Kentucky, and now back in the portal after his junior season.
He has earned quality reps every season, logging 112 carries for 560 yards and three touchdowns with the Wildcats, including two games with over 100 rushing yards. However, his best season came in 2024 with the Cornhuskers, when he was their No. 1 RB, earning a career-high 143 carries for 614 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. If Louisville does lose Isaac or Keyjuan to the portal, it might be worth taking a look at Dowdell for another running back.
