4. Pat Kelsey continues to cook
A glaring reason McKneely committed to the Cardinals was their style of play. Louisville basketball allows its players to play freely and run the game. Pat Kelsey has mastered this style of coaching, as he has control of the game and his players, but he lets them feel the game out.
Kelsey has quickly become one of the best coaches in college basketball as he won the ACC Coach of the Year last season and shattered multiple program records. The Cardinals may have been bounced in the first round of the NCAA Tournament last season, but it was a massive step forward. Louisville has now brought three elite playmakers to the portal and will hopefully return key players like J'Vonne Hadley and Kasean Pryor.
After this incredible offseason, Kelsey's is entering the elite recruiting level. The Cardinals have now landed three players in 247Sports' top 10 transfer portal players and are still expected to do more. McKneely understood that this program was starving for a championship, and his joining the team just elevated them to National Championship contenders.
