5. Lawayne McCoy
Lawayne McCoy arrives from Florida State as a former four-star recruit with two years of eligibility remaining. He is widely viewed as an elite talent with real playmaking potential in the passing game.
With key departures including Chris Bell, Caullin Lacy, and depth players Kris Hughes, Antonio Meeks, and Dacari Collins, the wide receiver position was a major offseason need. Brohm addressed that by bringing in eight new faces, headlined by McCoy, who has the tools to become the focal point of an offense that has produced standout receivers such as Jamari Thrash, Jacorey Brooks, and Chris Bell in recent years.
Just as Jawhar Jordan and Isaac Guerendo helped Thrash in 2023, Isaac Brown helped Brooks in 2024, and then did the same for Bell in 2025, Brown should again elevate the passing game in 2026. A strong running game opens everything else up. If Kienholz settles in as the general of the offense, McCoy could put together a season on par with the top receivers Brohm has sent to the NFL—and it all starts with Isaac Brown anchoring the run game.
