5. Miller Moss (QB)

Quarterback Miller Moss will try to be the steady hand for Louisville’s offense, but the ACC slate demands more than just effort. A mixed bag of good, great, and mediocre puts Moss in the crosshairs for what should be a very high-scoring game against UVA. Moss has shown flashes of accuracy and command, particularly in the short-to-intermediate passing game, but Saturday’s matchup against Virginia gives him the chance to elevate his playmaking. The Cavaliers give up 222 passing yards per game, but can also pick their spots in creating turnovers. Two timely interceptions helped seal their double overtime victory against FSU last week. If Moss takes care of the ball, he could be in for a big day.

The quarterback position has been dynamic since Jeff Brohm’s arrival, and Moss continues to be the central figure in whether this offense or fails. Virginia will try to pressure him into hurried decisions, but Moss’s ability to stay poised and get the ball to his playmakers will determine how effective the Cardinals can be. If he’s efficient and in rhythm, the offense should thrive. If not, Louisville risks letting the Cavaliers hang around much longer than they’d like. In a game where it may be “last to score wins” look for Moss to step up.
