Draft day is upon us, and Louisville football looks to have multiple players drafted. The Cardinals held their annual Pro Day this week, with 21 participants from Louisville football. All 32 NFL teams were in attendance, giving extra motivation to the players.
"I think it's more of a showcase, to kind of just display what you think you've seen on video and film," head coach Jeff Brohm said. "Sometimes when you can see a person live, especially a quarterback, throw, and see the ball come out of his hand, it does make a difference."
Now let's get into it and see what we can take away from Pro Day. Here are five massive reactions from Louisville Football's Pro Day.
5 massive reactions from Louisville Football's Pro Day
5. Quincy Riley making noise
Cornerback Quincy Riley is currently sitting at a round two-three pick in the NFL Draft. Riley kept his 40 time from the combine, but he participated in position drills. Although the position drills were limited due to scouts having to catch flights for other Pro Day's. Quincy still caught the scout's attention and set himself up well for the draft. He has been impressive throughout the draft process. Riley has a chance to be a real sleeper in the draft. He has official 30 visits scheduled with the Carolina Panthers and the Washington Commanders.
4. Ashton Gillotte recovers from NFL Combine
Edge rusher Ashton Gillotte did not have the best showing at the combine. He recovered and then some at Louisville Pro Day. Gillotte ran a blazing 4.63 40-yard dash. He also recorded a 6.94 3-cone drill. This impressive Pro Day showed his potential to NFL teams. Gillotte is coming off a 43 total tackles and 4.5 sack season. He is projected to go in round three or four of the draft.
3. Ja'Corey Brooks continues to attempt to make waves
Ja'Corey Brooks did not participate in any drills at the combine. Pro Day was a way to get his name out there more and show scouts what he could do. He did not have the best time in the 40, where he finished in the 4.6s, but looked solid in drills. The Cleveland Browns receiver coach met with him after the drills. Brooks is a 6'1 receiver who eclipsed 1,000 yards last season. He is projected in the sixth round of the NFL Draft.
2. Louisville football has 4 players with a real shot of getting drafted
Louisville football currently has four players on NFL Draft boards. If all four get drafted, that would be two more than last year, where they had two players taken in the draft. That shows that the program is improving and on the rise. The four players include QB Tyler Shough (projected round 1-3), CB Quincy Riley (projected round 2-3), Edge Ashton Gillotte (projected round 3-4), WR Ja'Corey Brooks (projected round 6-7)
1. Tyler Shough continues to impress
What more can you say about Tyler Shough. He may be the biggest riser out of any prospect in this year's draft. Shough went through 61 scripted throws, he claims he only misfired on one ball.
"I do think he had a great day and people can see he can really throw the football," Brohm said. "Sometimes when you can see a quarterback live, it makes a difference. I think Tyler did what he needed to do to show them everything that he can do with the football."
Shough has been rumored to meet with the Steelers, Browns, Seahawks, and the Giants. From being projected in the fourth-fifth round to now potentially sneaking in the first round, it shows you how much work Shough has put in and how talented he is. The story throughout the season was his age and injury history, but Shough is looking to silence the critics.
Shough told reporters that he felt like he was "the most pro-ready" QB in the draft.
The 2025 NFL Draft will take place April 24 and run until April 26, in Green Bay, Wis. Tune in to watch your Cardinals get their name called.
