With only the Boca Raton Bowl remaining for this season, the Cardinals will need to set their sights on the offseason, specifically the transfer portal. This 15-day window has become one of the most critical events in the college football season. Starting on Jan. 2, the Cardinals will have the opportunity to pursue players who could impact the team immediately.
This transfer portal cycle could finally put the Cards over the top in the ACC, as three of their four conference losses were only by one score. The Cardinals know they’re on the edge of greatness, as they beat a playoff team in the Miami Hurricanes earlier this year.
5 realistic win-now players Louisville football must target in Transfer Portal
Louisville football will not only have to acquire players to improve the team, but also fill the voids left by departing players.
Louisville football will have to go all in during this window if it wants to truly make a name for itself in this era of college football. Let’s take a look at five players whom the Cardinals could realistically acquire to help them win now.
5. DJ Jordan
DJ Jordan recently announced that he would enter the transfer portal with three years of eligibility remaining. The receiver from USC only saw playing time in three games this past year, totalling five receptions for 38 yards.
Although Jordan didn’t get the ability to showcase his abilities, the 6-foot-1 receiver is an exceptional talent. In high school, Jordan was a four-star recruit and the No.4 player in the state of California, according to On3. He was named a 2024 Under Armour All-American and was invited to the 2024 NBC All-American Bowl.
Jordan's frame resembles senior Cardinal receiver Caullin Lacy. With Lacy being a senior and preparing to take the next step in his football career, Jordan could be the perfect replacement for the Cardinal offense.
The young receiver would be a work in progress, as he hasn’t had much playing time at the collegiate level, but with three years, the Cardinals could make Jordan into a receiver they can rely on heavily.
