5-star PF emerges as dream target for Louisville basketball’s National Title push

Louisville basketball is in the mix for multiple transfers at the moment after the Cardinals landed Flory Bidunga and Jackson Shelstad. The Cardinals were reportedly one of the top teams in the mix for elite power forward Paulius Murauskas, as Pat Kelsey and company were up against Arizona State for the 4-star.

Projected Louisville lineup with Flory Bidunga, Jackson Shelstad should terrify Duke

Louisville lost significant depth at its forward positions, as the Cards saw four forwards enter the Transfer Portal and lost J’Vonne Hadley and others due to eligibility. So, with Louisville needing to address its power forward position, the Cardinals were making a strong push for one of the best power forwards available in the portal.

However, the word on the street is that Louisville might be taking its foot off the gas with Murauskas, and if that is true, the newest portal entry would be a dream target replacement.

Louisville is a perfect fit for Milan Momcilovic

If Louisville is pivoting from Murauskas, the Iowa State transfer Milan Momcilovic would be a dream target for Kelsey and Louisville. The Iowa State transfer is immediately one of the top players in the portal as the junior is coming off a dominant season with the Cyclones.

Louisville needs a true power forward who not only has the size and physicality for the position but can also help space the floor when playing with Bidunga. The dream target for Louisville is immediately Momcilovic. The 5-star transfer is an elite 3-point shooter who shot a dominant 48.7 percent from beyond the arc while he made an eye-popping 3.7 3’s per game and a total of 136 made 3’s in the 2025-26 season.

The Iowa State transfer made the most 3-pointers in Division I basketball this past season, and his 3.7 3’s per game marked the fifth most in Division I. The 6-foot-8, 225-pound power forward is an elite 3-point specialist who is the definition of a sharpshooter, as he has the ability to make beyond-difficult contested shots, and he can score off the pass and create his own shot with a pump fake or use his height to shoot over the defender.

The 5-star transfer averaged 16.9 points and 3.1 rebounds while shooting 42.4 percent from the field. The 3-point sharpshooter made five or more 3’s in 11 games, including four games where he made eight 3’s. He scored 20 points or more in 15 games and 30 points or more in one game, where he made eight 3’s and scored 34 points against Cincinnati.

He ranks as a consensus 5-star transfer and the unanimous No. 2 overall transfer in the portal and the new No. 1 power forward in the portal. It will be a hard get for Kelsey, but if he is moving away from Murauskas, Momcilovic is the perfect player to fit into Kelsey’s system and would be a dream addition to pair with Bidunga in the frontcourt.
