3. USF has a big weakness on defense
Opponent free throws have been a consistent issue for Louisville this season, with opposing teams regularly getting to the line. That trend could continue, as USF leads the country with 20.1 made free throws on 27 attempts per game, compared to Louisville’s 15.7 makes on 20.5 attempts.
The difference here is that USF also commits a high number of fouls, averaging 19.8 per game (31st most in the country). That should allow Louisville to exceed its average of 20.7 free throw attempts. If the Bulls commit their usual number—especially late—free throws could become a key equalizer.
Louisville shoots 77% from the line as a team (34th nationally), and in a tournament setting, that efficiency can be the difference. The key will be to attack the rim and force those opportunities, rather than settle for perimeter shots.
