Louisville is reportedly a team to keep an eye on for one of the top transfers in the portal, Miles Byrd. The San Diego State transfer immediately went on Louisville fans' radar as the 4-star transfer is one of the top defenders in college basketball and is available in the portal.
The Cardinals fans made it clear they want someone like Chucky Hepburn, who can not only score and be an offensive threat, but also be a defensive menace and an elite ball defender. Byrd is an immediate top choice for this need, as he is entering the portal after winning the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year award and averaging 1.9 steals and 1.2 blocks per game.
The 4-star transfer is 6-foot-7, 190 pounds, and would be a lengthy shooting guard or small forward for Kelsey, so while he wouldn’t be Louisville’s point guard, he would fill in a glaring hole. This past season, he recorded at least 2 steals and 2 blocks in 6 games, and had 3 or more steals in 11 games. He averaged 10.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game while shooting 40.5 percent from the field.
