Louisville football learned that one of its backup quarterbacks, Brady Allen, will hit the Transfer Portal, leaving the Cards with a thin, inexperienced QB room. The Cardinas currently have Deuce Adams, Mason Mims, and Briggs Cherry in that quarterback room, making it clear that Brohm needs to at least bring in a quarterback with some experience from the portal.
This is not new for Brohm or the fans, as the Cardinals have hit the portal every year under Brohm. Louisville had an underwhelming experiment with USC transfer Miller Moss, and the fans want someone whom Brohm can develop and have for more than one season. So, with Allen hitting the portal and Moss graduating, here are five quarterbacks who already are in the portal that Brohm and Louisville should target.
5 win-now QB's Louisville must target after Brady Allen enters Transfer portal
5. Jaden Craig
A name not many college football fans are familiar with is Harvard transfer Jaden Craig. As of now, he is one of the top quarterbacks in the portal after three seasons at Harvard. He spent the last two seasons as the starter for Harvard, and now, with his name in the portal, he isn’t the flashiest name, but one that Louisville can recruit and save some money.
With names like Raiola and Lagway entering the portal today, Craig becomes a top target for Louisville. He has shown he can sling the ball at a high rate while also giving the Cards an opportunity to save some money. Brohm and the Cardinals want to compete for an ACC Title next season, and Craig is an immediate dark-horse candidate.
He has completed nearly 61 percent of his passes, while throwing for a combined 6,074 yards, 52 touchdowns, and just 12 interceptions in his three years. He won’t be a player that would be around for too long, as he is already a senior, but if Louisville wants to go get a quarterback who has proven himself already, Craig is a great target.
Last year, he threw 2,869 yards and 25 touchdowns, while throwing just 12 interceptions on 338 attempts. He also added 7 rushing touchdowns, but he is definitely a pocket passer, which Brohm usually prefers.
