3. T.J. Capers, LB
T.J. Capers has taken a major leap this season. His signature moment came with the game-sealing interception against Carson Beck and No. 2 Miami, but his production extends far beyond one highlight. Over the last four games, Capers has totaled 20 tackles, and according to PFF, he has been Louisville’s highest-graded linebacker all season.
Capers, like Watts, got his name called when Clark went down, and he say much more playing time. His impressive season is highlighted by career highs across the sheet, as he earned 40 total tackles, one pass deflection, and one interception.
A defender of his caliber allows the staff to focus portal efforts on the defensive line and secondary. Retaining Capers not only preserves a proven difference-maker but also keeps valuable continuity in the middle of the defense. As Louisville looks to rebuild or retool in several defensive areas, Capers is exactly the kind of reliable, ascending player they must keep in the program.
