No. 14: Virginia Tech Hokies
Virginia Tech has made significant strides in the past few weeks following the firing of Brent Key. The only problem is that they were terrible before, so the strides are not that impressive. The Hokies came close to beating Wake Forest this weekend, but ultimately fell short, losing by a touchdown.
Many fans don't expect the Hokies to be competitive with the best teams in the league, but they are not surprised to see them playing challenging games against mediocre squads in the ACC. If the Hokies keep playing with fight, they have all the chances in the world to move up in the rankings. However, for now, they are stuck at the bottom.
No. 13: Stanford Cardinal
Stanford was on a bye this week, so for another week in a row, Stanford technically doesn't lose a game. This team amazes me with how they are the best bad team in college football. They might lose to Hawaii, but then turn around and blow out Boston College.
Stanford will take on SMU next week, and they will show how they can compete with an above-average team on the road. Stanford keeps things interesting in the ACC, and the fans do not doubt that it will maintain that reputation going into next week.
