No. 5: Virginia Cavaliers
Virginia has started this season 4-0, and with the departure of Tony Bennet behind them, they are looking to get back to good basketball. Virginia has absolutely decimated their opposition so far this season, and even defeated Marshall by 26 points earlier last week.
Based on their preseason outlook and how well they have played so far, Virginia will be one of the teams to beat in the ACC this season.
No. 4: SMU Mustangs
While SMU may not be the most talented team in the ACC or even be this high in the rankings come January, they have started this year firing on all cylinders.
SMU has had a couple of close calls already this year against a couple of teams, but they have found their way to win all four games to start the year, which is no easy feat. SMU defeated Butler to get a decent win under its belt and took down a scrappy Murray State team.
SMU has proven that it has no reason to be any lower in these rankings, but only time will tell how good it really is.
