Louisville football had a wild come-from-behind win on Saturday over the Pitt Panthers, which improved the Cardinals' 2025 record to 4-0. While the Cardinals remain undefeated, fans voiced their opinions on social media that they aren't surprised the team remained unranked in the AP Polls after they were released yesterday.
However, that being said, the Cardinals have a massive opportunity this weekend for their first statement win of the 2025 season and their first win over a ranked opponent. While no one projected the Virginia Cavaliers showdown to be the Cardinals' first opportunity to make some noise in the College Football Playoff talks, the AP Polls revealed that this Saturday is the Cardinals' first true test.

Louisville football fans voice opinions on remaining unranked
Pat McAfee was the first to reveal that this game was a "big one," and then the AP Polls and Louisville fans quickly agreed. While a 4-0 ACC team usually gets ranked, the Cards showed some areas of concern against Pitt, and with that being their only win over a Power Four team, Louisville fans didn't argue against the AP voters.
No. We still haven’t played a relevant team. If we beat Virginia, we should be based on their victory over FSU.

The Cardinals might not be ranked as of now, but the Louisville fans are making it clear that with a win on Saturday, the Cardinals will jump into the AP rankings next week. Virginia is now ranked No. 24 in the nation, while the Cardinals are ranked No. 30 with their 36 receiving votes.

The Cardinals' next two games are crucial for Louisville's ACC Title chances, as they will face No. 24 Virginia and then No. 3 Miami after their second bye. Louisville fans are hoping that, with the Cardinals remaining unranked through five weeks despite being undefeated, it will light a fire in the locker room and lead to a statement performance this weekend.
