The 2025 college football season is officially underway, and fans have already seen two upsets before August 30, when the majority of the teams start their season. The first upset of the year occurred in Week 0, when No. 22 Iowa State defeated No. 17 Kansas State 24-21 in an intense Big 12 showdown in Dublin. The other upset occurred just last night, when the No. 25-ranked team in the nation, Boise State, was humiliated on the road against USF in a 34-7 loss.
The Broncos' loss wasn't just an upset and a poor performance, but it also proved that Louisville football enters the season severely underrated and disrespected. Jeff Brohm and his Louisville Cardinals should be a top 25 team in the nation entering Week 1, and the Boise State 27-point loss proves that.

Louisville football enters 2025 as one of college football's most underrated teams
Louisville enters the season ranked No. 29 in the nation according to the AP Polls, as the Cardinals' 90 receiving votes are behind BYU, Utah, and Baylor. The Week 0 showdown was sloppy, with four total fumbles, and featured limited offense, while Boise State's performance was just flat-out embarrassing. The Cardinals falling behind three Big 12 teams and Boise State proves how underrated this team is, and CBS agrees.
Louisville was labeled as one of the eight most underrated teams in a recent article by CBS, while Iowa State was one of the most overrated teams. The Big 12's Week 0 performance and the Broncos' performance last night do not jump out to fans or experts, and the Cardinals are sitting on the outside looking in with a lot of upside.
Louisville has a prime opportunity to leapfrog these Big 12 teams this weekend and surpass Boise State as well. The Broncos fumbled the ball five times last night and were exposed early to how weak they are without Heisman runner-up Ashton Jeanty.
The Cardinals will definitley jump Boise State and will hopefully jump multiple Big 12 schools this weekend after a dominant win over Eastern Kentucky. The Cardinals appear they have to prove themselves with transfer quarterback Miller Moss, but after Saturday they will show the nation they have one of the most explosive offenses in the country and deserve way more respect.
