Elite 4-star WR is Louisville's perfect target after Kentucky fired Mark Stoops

Louisville football defeated the Kentucky Wildcats 41-0 over the weekend. The Cards dominated the Wildcats from start to finish for the second straight season, scoring 41 points in back-to-back Governor's Cup showdowns, and outscoring the Cats 82-14 over the last two seasons.

Louisville's win over Kentucky was the final straw for the Wildcats as they fired head coach Mark Stoops shortly after. With Kentucky firing its head coach, programs usually see many commitments decommit and find new spots. Louisville should try to act fast, as they have already stolen Vince Marrow from Kentucky; now, they should go and attack some of the Wildcats' top commitments, too.

Elite 4-star WR emerges as Louisville’s perfect target

Kentucky doesn't have a class that is eye-catching, ranking No. 62 in the nation, but it does have some commitments Louisville should look at. The Cards already stole Jarvis Strickland when they ripped Marrow away from them, and now it is time to do something similar.

Louisville doesn't need a quarterback like Matt Ponatoski, as they are excited to see 4-star Briggs Cherry, but they could use some wide receivers, which makes Denairius Gray stand out. The Cardinals already extended an offer to Gray, and the 3-star receiver would be an excellent flip for Marrow and the Cardinals.

Gray committed to Kentucky back in July after flipping his commitment from Auburn. Now, Louisville should try to get him to flip once more, as this time, Marrow is on the Cardinals' side, not the Wildcats'.

The 4-star wide receiver ranks as high as No. 515 in the nation by 247 Sports, and is ranked No. 60 in the wide receiver position by ESPN. He is from Hollywood, Fla., where he earned over 38 offers, including Louisville's on March 9, 2023. The Cards were one of the first programs to make an offer to the 4-star wide receiver, and since he has been dominant in high school, he has now received offers from college football giants like LSU, Texas A&M, Georgia, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Penn State, Miami, and many more.

Gray earned seven receiving touchdowns this season, and earned 14 his freshman season, and 11 his sophomore and junior seasons. He logged over 2134 receiving yards in his high school career and over 45 total touchdowns. He is a top receiver in this class and is a perfect target for Louisville with Stoops being fired and Marrow now a Cardinal.
