Louisville basketball’s 2025-26 season comes to an end after the Cards fought hard but fell short to the Michigan State Spartans Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals fought until the last whistle, but Tom Izzo and the Spartans were just too much for Louisville this afternoon, losing 77-69.

With the season ending, as many fans can imagine, the roster and staff will be emotional. The seniors just played their last college basketball game, and some may have just suited up for one final time. It is going to be an emotional few days for these seniors, as seen in an interview with J’Vonne Hadley shortly after the game.

J’Vonne Hadley’s heartbreaking postgame moment hits Louisville fans hard

Hadley was one of the veteran players on this Cardinals team this season, and in the second half he really took it to the next level. The 6-year senior transferred to Louisville from Colorado, and with the Cardinals losing this afternoon, he unfortunately just played his final collegiate game.

Hadley is a fan favorite and someone who will be a Cardinal for life, and in an interview after the game, Louisville fans will be fighting back tears as they listen to and watch one of their favorite players extremely emotional after the loss.

“I didn’t think I would be this emotional, but it just hurts,” Hadley stated after the Cardinals' loss. “I pride myself on being so consistent, and that hasn’t happened in a long time, and for that to happen in my last college career game, I can’t believe it.”

Louisville fans are immediately responding to this interview and telling Hadley he didn’t let anyone down, and while he wasn’t his normal self this afternoon, scoring just two points on 1-of-8 shooting, he was a key reason why Louisville got as far as they did.

Hadley averaged 11.8 points and 5.2 rebounds this season, but he really stepped up after the Baylor game. He scored 20 against Baylor, and over his last 11 games, including that game, he averaged nearly 14 points per game at 13.8 points. He scored 15 points or more in five of those games and scored in double digits in all but two.

Every Louisville fan is feeling for Hadley as they watch this interview, as it is never easy to see a player so emotional. But one thing is for sure: no one is pointing their fingers at Hadley and blaming him. The 6-foot-7, 210-pound forward had a massive impact on the “ReviVILLE” of this program and will be a Cardinal for life after his two seasons.
