ESPN Analytics just gave Louisville basketball fans real hope

The ACC race is beginning to tighten at the top, as the Cardinals might be in seventh place, but they are not far behind the No. 2 seed and will have opportunities to climb up the standings. The Cards have just 10 games remaining in a little over of one month of regular season basketball remaining.

The Cardinals want to try to earn that coveted double-bye in the ACC Tournament, and to make that happen, Louisville has to win some big-time games. Well, ESPN analytics appear to be extremely high on the Cardinals, as Louisville is currently favored in every remaining game.

Of Louisville’s 10 games remaining, the Cardinals are given a 65-percent chance or higher to win in seven of their remaining 10 games, including three games where they have a 90-percent chance or higher of winning. ESPN predicts Louisville’s three easiest remaining games to be against Notre Dame (92.8-percent chance of winning), Georgia Tech (96.7-percent chance of winning), and Syracuse (91.0-percent chance of winning).

On the contrary, the Cardinals' three hardest games remaining come as no surprise, as they are given a 65.0 percent chance of defeating SMU, a 57.8 percent chance of defeating North Carolina, and a 53.0 percent chance of defeating Clemson. The Cardinals' matchups against UNC and Clemson will be crucial showdowns not only to gain respect around the league and secure two Quad-1 road wins, but also to climb the ACC standings.

Louisville also has crucial games against Miami and North Carolina State, where the Cardinals have a 65.5 percent chance of defeating the Hurricanes and a dominant 75.9 percent chance of defeating the Wolfpack.

So, with Louisville in dire need of rattling off a streak here in the final stretch before the ACC Tournament, ESPN Matchup Predictor is here giving the Cardinals some good news that they think Louisville has a very high chance of winning seven games, while being favored to win all remaining 10 games.
