Final visit weekend gives Louisville a chance to lock in top 25 recruiting class

Louisville is hosting 12 commits and 3 key targets for its final official visit weekend as Jeff Brohm looks to secure a top 25 finish in the 2026 recruiting cycle.

Each of Jeff Brohm’s first two recruiting classes at Louisville featured 15 high school commits, but his 2026 class is already up to 18 heading into the final official visit weekend of the spring. The class, now headline by quarterback Briggs Cherry, who is quickly rising to national prominence at the Elite 11 Finals, is ranked 25th in the country by 247Sports Composite, the best of Brohm’s brief tenure.

As Cherry recently eluded to, this weekend will be used to put the finishing touches on the class and negotiate player deals from the $20.5 million revenue sharing pool that was put in place by the House Settlement and goes into effect on July 1. With 12 of the 18 Cardinals commits heading to campus, it will be a busy weekend for Brohm and the new executive director of player personnel and recruiting, Vince Marrow.

Here’s a look at the members of the 2026 class who will be on campus this weekend, starting Friday, June 20.

12 Louisville commits heading to campus for official visit

  • Jaydin Broadnax, CB (Boca Raton, FL): 4-star
  • Evan Hampton, RB (Owensboro, KY): 4-star
  • Briggs Cherry, QB (Chattanooga, TN): 4-star
  • Payton Cook, WR (Akron, OH): 4-star
  • Karsten Busch, LB (Louisville, KY): 3-star
  • Marlon Harbin, ATH (Louisville, KY): 3-star
  • Gavin Waddell, WR (Rolesville, NC): 3-star
  • Lekhy Thompkins, RB (Jackson, TN): 3-star
  • Bryten Close, OL (Campbellsville, KY): 3-star
  • Brady Ballart, LB (Aurora, IN): 3-star
  • Krew Moledor, OL (Gainesville, GA): 3-star
  • Max Merz, OL (Fort Thomas, KY): 3-star

The final official visit of the spring will also serve to put the finishing touches on the class as Brohm shows a renewed focus on high school recruiting ahead of the revenue-sharing era of college football. With a cap on the amount of money schools can directly pay players, adding talent from the transfer portal may be more costly than holding onto homegrown talent.

Louisville has been a portal-heavy program since Brohm took over, and that philosophy of roster construction has yielded 19 wins over two seasons, but this 2026 cycle could be the first sign that Brohm’s philosophy is evolving. While that’s not entirely clear at this point, if the Cardinals add the three uncommitted recruits who are scheduled to visit and have a class of 20+ high schoolers, it will point to increased investment in high school recruiting as the program’s primary talent pipeline.

3 Cardinals recruiting targets taking official visits to Louisville Friday

  • Jayden McGregory, ATH (West Des Moines, IA): 4-star
  • Julius Miles, TE (Freeport, FL): 3-star
  • Jamyan Theordore, CB (Chattanooga, TN): Unranked

Of the uncommitted recruits, McGregory is the prize. However, 247Sports has logged a prediction for the four-star athlete to join Missouri.
