Louisville basketball just got a huge update regarding the nation’s No. 1 overall transfer, as Jeff Goodman reported that Louisville is in a major recruiting battle for Flory Bidunga. Goodman reports that Louisville is one of four teams “as of now” on the Kansas transfer list, as Louisville is reportedly up against Duke, Michigan, and St. John’s.

Louisville basketball has a massive weekend ahead as the Cardinals learned they will host multiple elite transfers for a visit, including the nation’s No. 1 overall transfer. Pat Kelsey is swinging for the fences early as the Cards will have the Kansas transfer on campus for a potential program-changing visit, and now, just days before the visit, Louisville learned they are high on the Kansas transfer's list.

Louisville basketball gets huge Flory Bidunga update

Louisville fans have made it clear all offseason that they want Kelsey to attack the frontcourt and get someone who can take over the game with his paint presence, and there is no one better than Bidunga. The Kansas transfer ranks No. 1 overall in the portal and is the top-ranked center to enter the Transfer Portal. With Louisville hosting him and Oregon transfer Jackson Shelstad for an official visit on Friday, Louisville fans are praying for some good news.

It won’t be an easy commitment for the Cardinals, as the 5-star transfer won’t be cheap and is going up against college basketball giants Duke, Michigan, and St. John’s, but Kelsey has a good history with the Transfer Portal. Last offseason, Kelsey landed one 5-star transfer, Adrian Wooley, and three total transfers, all of whom ranked in the top 25.

With Louisville losing Sananda Fru to the Transfer Portal, the Cardinals need a frontcourt presence, and Kelsey isn’t just trying to replace Fru but appears to be trying to get a massive upgrade. One of Louisville’s biggest areas of need this offseason, and one of their biggest weaknesses last year, was a big man who could back down his defender and protect the rim.

Ranking No. 1 overall among centers in the portal, Bidunga is the dream target for Louisville. He averaged 13.3 points, while shooting 64 percent from the field, and earned 9.0 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game. He is an elite defender that Louisville fans have been begging for, as his 2.6 blocks per game and 91 total blocks on the season ranked in the top six in Division I basketball.

The 5-star transfer logged 13 double-doubles on the year and scored 20 points or more five times. Louisville earning the first visit is a good step in the right direction, as the Cards have a chance to leave a good impression and will try to earn his commitment before he leaves campus, but right now, Louisville’s biggest threats are Michigan, Duke, and St. John's.
