Sananda Fru commits to Marquette after one year with Louisville
Fru committed to Louisville last spring after he was ranked as high as a 4-star recruit from overseas. The 6-foot-11, 250-pound forward won the Basketball Bundesliga's Best German Young Player award and had incredibly high expectations coming to Louisville.
He averaged 12.3 points while shooting 69 percent from the field, as well as averaged 6.1 rebounds, 0.9 steals, and 1.6 blocks per game. However, in his lone season with the Cardinals, the fans left a bit underwhelmed by Fru, and he ultimately chose to enter the Transfer Portal and is now committing to Marquette.
Fru averaged 9.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, and 1.2 assists per game, and shot the ball around 75 percent from the field. The 6-foot-11 forward started the first 29 games, but because of his lack of physicality, Pat Kelsey went with a different look at the end of the regular season and in the postseason, bringing Fru off the bench and starting Vangelis Zougris.
Louisville has already replaced Fru with the No. 1 center and the No. 1 overall transfer, Flory Bidunga. The Cardinals frontcourt is already shaping up to be drastically better in 2026-27, as Bidunga will bring a dominant defensive presence and is one of the best lob threats in the country.
