Tawfiq Thomas, Louisville football's former 3-star commit, is entering the Transfer Portal yet again. The former Cardinal played his first two seasons with Louisville in 2022 and 2023, then entered the transfer portal and transferred to the Colorado Buffaloes.
Thomas was a 3-star recruit out of Gaither High School in Tampa, Florida. He was ranked as high as No. 839 in the 2022 recruiting class, and Rivals ranked him as the No. 32 defensive lineman and the No. 62 recruit out of Florida. Now, after two seasons under Deion Sanders, he is entering the portal for the second time and will look for his third school in five years.

Former Louisville football commit is heading back in the Transfer Portal
Thomas committed to Louisville after receiving over 18 offers and chose Louisville over elite Power Five programs like Miami, Michigan, Iowa State, and Indiana.
He played in 22 games with the Cards across his freshman and sophomore seasons. He ended his tenure with Louisville with 12 total tackles in 207 defensive snaps, including five solo tackles. In his freshman season, he recorded 8 of his 12 tackles; in his sophomore season, he recorded four tackles, all unassisted.
He was a 3-star transfer in 2024, and now, after his two seasons with Colorado, he has just one season left. In Colorado, he played in all 13 games last season and four this year before he got injured. Last year, he had a career-best 18 tackles (13 solo), 2.5 tackles for loss, one pass deflection, and one sack.
He was having a productive season with the Buffaloes before he got hurt, logging 1.5 tackles for loss and one quarterback hurry, along with 12 tackles across his four games. Now, he is searching for his final destination for his last season and hopes to bring veteran leadership and quality reps, whether he is a backup or a starter.
