Former Louisville football player Tyler Shough is finally going to get the respect that he deserves. The New Orleans Saints benched Spencer Rattler in last week's loss in the third quarter and gave the ball to their former second-round pick and the former Louisville Cardinal.

Shough and Rattler battled it out this offseason for the starting position, but head coach Kellen Moore decided to lean with Rattler over Shough. Well, after a 1-7 start and Rattler leading one of the worst offenses in the nation, Moore finally decided to give the starting position to Shough.

Tyler Shough will start this weekend after Saints bench Rattler

It took him long enough, but Moore will finally start Shough over Rattler in the Saints' ninth game of the season. Shough will make his first start this weekend in Los Angeles against the Rams, according to Ian Rapoport.

The Saints offense averaged 16.0 points per game, ranking No. 29 in the NFL, and just 295 total yards per game, ranking No. 27 in the nation. Rattler completed 68 percent of his passes and threw just eight touchdowns in eight games, while also throwing five interceptions. Rattler is now 1-13 as a starter in the NFL, and Moore decided enough is enough and will turn to the rookie.

Shough came in for Rattler in the last game against the Buccaneers and finished 17-of-30 for 128 yards, with an interception. The former Cardinal threw 3,195 passing yards and 23 touchdowns while completing 62.7 percent of his passes last season with Louisville.

Shough was selected No. 40 overall by the Saints in the 2025 NFL Draft and will have all eyes on him. It was only a matter of time before Moore gave the starting job to Shough, and now that his time is up, the rookie quarterback will look to give this underwhelming Saints team a shine of light.
