Louisville basketball has high expectations entering Pat Kelsey's third year, and a major reason is the Cardinals' dominant Transfer Portal haul. Louisville lost nine of its top 10 players from this past season, forcing Kelsey to rebuild this team, and he exceeded all expectations.
Louisville's lineup even without Milan Momcilovic should still have fans dreaming big
Now, Louisville is trending as a legitimate Final Four contender this offseason. Kelsey's portal haul ranks No. 1 in the nation, as he added multiple 4-stars and one 5-star and turned heads nationwide.
When looking at who Kelsey brought in, Flory Bidunga is getting a lot of the attention, and despite some offseason criticism, Fox Sports Aaron Torres just sent a loud message about what Louisville is getting in their 5-star transfer.
Fox Sports analyst sends loud message to anyone doubting Flory Bidunga
This offseason, Louisville fans have heard some criticism of Bidunga and his offensive game. The 5-star transfer isn't a huge offensive threat as his offensive bag is still a work in progress, but Torres made it clear that Bidunga remains a dominant big man and is poised for a massive year with the Cardinals.
"I'm sorry, anyone who is trying to diminish the impact Flory Bidunga can have in college basketball, respectfully, you are kind of being an idiot," stated Torres. "Duke, Michigan, and St. John's. I'm sorry when Duke wants you, when Rick Pitino wants you, and when Dusty May wants you, guess what? You are a pretty freaking good basketball player, and this notion that he isn't going to be incredible at Louisville next year is preposterous, and let me even take a step further. He is exactly what this Louisville team needed."
Torres is here to remind everyone how dominant Bidunga was this past season. The 5-star transfer ranked No. 1 overall in the Transfer Portal and reminds everyone there is a reason Duke, Michigan, and St. John's wanted him.
Louisville earned Bidunga's commitment over some of the best college basketball programs in the country. Those three powerhouse programs wanted Bidunga, and if Pitino, May, and Jon Scheyer want Bidunga, then college basketball fans should realize how good the center is.
Bidunga is coming off an All-Big 12 season in which he averaged 13.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, and a dominant 2.6 blocks per game. The 6-foot-10, 235-pound center won the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year award as his 91 blocks ranked No. 4 in the nation and his 2.6 blocks per game ranked No. 5 in the nation.
The Cardinals needed a rim protector and a dominant big man, and that is exactly what they got, and Torres is here to tell everyone that, despite any criticism. Bidunga earned 13 double-doubles this past season and scored 20 points or more in five games, including his 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 blocks against No. 1 Arizona at the time.
Louisville got the perfect player to address its biggest flaw this past season, and Torres is sending a blunt message to anyone who thinks otherwise.
