Louisville football is taking on the Kentucky Wildcats this afternoon, and the story of the Governor's Cup is the Cardinals' injury report. Louisville is without star wide receiver Chris Bell and star linebacker Antonio Watts. On top of that, Louisville is expected to be depleted in the running back room, without all four scholarships, and to start walk-on freshman Braxton Jennings.

The good news for Cardinals fans is that starting quarterback Miller Moss is expected to make his return after being out last week with a foot injury. On3 Sports Pete Thamel reports Moss is expected to "give it a go today" against Kentucky, giving Louisville a bit of a boost on offense.

Miller Moss is expected to play this afternoon in Governor's Cup

Moss missed last week, and the Cardinals got crushed 38-6. Now, some fans want redshirt freshman Deuce Adams to get experience and playing time, but for today's game, Moss gives the Cardinals the best opportunity to win.

Brohm stated earlier in the week that Louisville could see multiple quarterbacks this afternoon, similar to the Miami game, where Brohm pulled out all the tricks and had numerous quarterbacks on the field on the first drive. Moss has had an up-and-down season, throwing for just 2,344 yards and 11 passing touchdowns against seven interceptions.

Louisville opened as 6.5-point favorites and is now just 2.5-point favorites. If Louisville wants to pull off this win, Moss must be poised in the pocket, and he must avoid turning the ball over. The Cards are trying to snap a three-game losing streak, and with the Governor's Cup on the line, Louisville needs its starting quarterback to step up and play his best game of the season.

The Cardinals and Wildcats will kick off at noon local time from L&N Stadium.
