Louisville football got off to a dominant start in the 2027 recruiting class, landing multiple 4-stars in the early months and reaching as high as No. 4 in the nation at one point. Louisville landed Allen Evans, who is ranked No. 69 in the recruiting class, and followed it up with another 4-star Kentucky native, Ja’Hyde Brown, and the Cards were turning heads nationwide.

Now, Louisville’s 2027 recruiting class has slowed down a little bit as it has dropped to No. 21 in the nation, according to 247Sports. While No. 21 in the country would still be a program record, Louisville and its fans have their eyes on breaking the top 20 for the first time, and for the Cardinals to do that, the month of June is going to be crucial.

Jeff Brohm has one major goal left for Louisville's 2027 recruiting class

The summer months are always massive for recruiting, as many high school recruits try to commit before their senior season. Louisville will try to gain some ground back in these recruiting rankings, as Brohm and Vince Marrow are eyeing history in early June.

Louisville has never had a recruiting class ranked inside the top 20 by the official signing day, and right now, they are barely on the outside looking in. The highest recruiting ranking in program history was achieved in 2006, when it ranked No. 24 in the nation, and the only other time Louisville had a class rank inside the top 25 was in 2023, when it ranked No. 25.

So, now if the Cards want to make history and break that top-20 drought, Brohm and Marrow need to land a couple of big-time recruits this summer. It is the first time Louisville has dropped out of the top 20 in a long time in these 2027 rankings, but Brohm is looking to capitalize on some big recruiting weekends.

Louisville just had over 15 recruits on campus, and shortly after, the Cards landed another 4-star 2027 recruit in AJ Tillman Jr. Now, over the next few weekends, Brohm and Louisville are set to have multiple major recruiting weekends with numerous recruits on campus. Louisville will look to build on Tillman's commitment and will try to land more commitments after these major recruiting weekends in June.

If Louisville wants to try and make history and jump back into the top 20 and be there by the time signing day is here, Brohm has to land some big-time recruits like 4-star Malachi Brown, but he will also have to avoid losing some commitments, as Munir Lewis and Chuck Alexander are on the flip watch radar.

Nonetheless, the Cardinals' 2027 recruiting class is a massive step in the right direction, and Brohm and Marrow are still trending to make history if they were to finish No. 21 in the recruiting rankings. But if Louisville wants to crack the top 20 for the first time in program history, June is going to be a huge recruiting month.
