Jeff Brohm is emerging as one of the top coaches in college football and is considered one of the most underrated coaches in the league. ESPN's Greg McElroy recently appeared on his podcast and ranked Brohm as the eighth-best coach in college football, revealing that he deserves much more praise than he gets.
One of the biggest reasons Brohm receives a lot of praise is his ability to win, as well as his ability to develop his players, especially quarterbacks. Brohm was hired as the Cardinals' head coach back in 2023, and in all three years with Louisville football, he has gone to the Transfer Portal for his starting quarterback.
While some view this as risky, Brohm views it as getting the best available to develop the quarterback into his full potential. The Cardinals' head coach has had tremendous success in this tactic and has now earned the nickname "quarterback whisperer."
Brohm just unveiled his secret blueprint for developing quarterbacks and why he is so successful in bringing in quarterbacks from the Transfer Portal.

Jeff Brohm reveals why he is college football’s quarterback whisperer
Brohm's quarterbacks with Louisville have been Jack Plummer, Tyler Shough, and now Miller Moss. Plummer and Shough went on to spend one season with Louisville, both in their final season of College Football.
Both quarterbacks threw for over 3,000 yards and over 20 touchdowns and went on to play in the NFL. Brohm now switches to Moss, who will look to lead the pack this 2025 season and be the next stud playing for Brohm.
When Brohm was asked about the nickname and reputation of "quarterback whisperer," Brohm unveiled his secret and explained it is all about the process.
"For us, we have a process," Brohm stated during his media availability at ACC Media Days on Wednesday. "We want guys that want to work hard and want to be a leader and play at a high level. Every one of them has different talents, and I think we're able to adapt, maybe as well as anybody, to what they do well and have a system that allows us to succeed at the things that they're really good at."
Brohm went on to explain that he puts in long hours and days with these transfer quarterbacks and "invests" in them. It is a process that he has to commit to and realize he is all-in on these quarterbacks for just one year. He explained the quarterback must want to work and must want to be successful, and if that is the case, then Brohm must work with them, and the rest is history.
"For us, building the roster with a quarterback doesn't have to do everything," Brohm stated. "You have a good running game, you've got a good play action game, you've got a good defense, got a good offensive line. All those things matter to great quarterback play, and we hope for Miller to have a great year, and we are definitely optimistic that with the weapons that we have and the team we have that he will excel and play extremely well for us."
Brohm has all the confidence in the world for Moss to be his next quarterback gem. The 4-star transfer showed a lot of potential during his time with USC. David Pollack stated that he thinks Moss will have a better season than Carson Beck at Miami.
Experts think Moss transferring to play under the QB whisperer himself and one of the best quarterback developers in college football was the best decision he could have made. Brohm and Moss will take the field Aug. 30 against Eastern Kentucky to start their journey together. Their goal is to get back to Charlotte and win the program's first ACC Title, and for that to happen, Moss must be Brohms' next QB star and follow the footsteps of Plummer and Shough.
