Louisville football was able to limit the Dukes to just seven points in each half and avoid a massive upset in Week 2 as the Cardinals won 28-14. Isaac Brown put the icing on the cake with a 78-yard run, while Jabari Mack officially ended it with an interception late in the fourth quarter.

However, while Louisville completed the second-half comeback and improved to 2-0, the Cardinals suffered a crucial injury that can impact Louisville's 2025 season. Star linebacker Stanquan Clark suffered a lower-body injury, and many fans fear the worst.

Clark was carted off the field after he was in the medical tent for several minutes, and Brohm, in his press conference, revealed that he wouldn't be shocked if he misses many games.

Jeff Brohm gives crushing update on Stanquan Clark

Clark entered the 2025 season as one of the best players on this roster and as a player with high potential. Brohm stated multiple times that Clark has been one of the team's stars and a clear leader.

After earning the second most tackles in 2024, Louisville fans were expecting another breakout season from their star linebacker; however, in the fourth quarter, Clark went down with a lower-body injury, sidelining him for the remainder of the game.

Louisville fans are immediately scared that it is his ACL, and he could be out for the season. In the post-game press conference, while Brohm didn't specify what the injury is, he expects Clark to be out for quite some time.

"We will know more tomorrow, but I can see him being out for an extensive period of time," Brohm stated on his star linebacker.

Louisville has another veteran and star in the linebacker room in TJ Quinn, but Antonio Watts and TJ Capers must step up with Clark going down. Losing Clark is going to be a crushing blow, as he is a dominant force for this Cardinals defense.

Louisville will provide an exact update tomorrow on Clark and the nature of his official injury, as well as whether he is out for the season or not. The Cardinals barely escaped JMU today, and if Clark is out for the season, this gauntlet of a schedule just got a whole lot tougher.
