Earlier this offseason, ESPN released an article stating that the Cardinals' biggest area of concern was their defensive end. Well, Jeff Brohm is here to tell the nation that could not be any more wrong, and that this defensive line is taking massive steps in the right direction and is exceeding all expectations.

Louisville football fans and college football experts have been trying to find someone who will replace Ashton Gillotte and the key pieces they lost from 2024, but Brohm is sending a warning to the ACC that they got some dawgs on the line and are going to be more explosive than some may think.

Jeff Brohm gives Louisville football's DL high praise

Brohm's defense appears to have won the fall scrimmages, as after the last couple of scrimmages, the defense is the one that kept getting the praise, while the offense appeared to have some red flags. The defensive line is the area where Brohm is giving the most praise to after fall camp, and has Louisville fans excited to see these newcomers step up.

"I don't want to give them too much good compliments, but yeah, I think they've done a good job," Brohm stated after his third scrimmage. "I expect them to play well. I think we have enough playmakers there to get after the quarterback, to create sacks, to create pressure. Being physical and stopping the run game is going to be critical. That just needs to show up game day. But, I definitely think we have the pieces."

The Cardinals are expecting Clev Lubin, Adonijah Green, and Wesley Bailey to have a massive season in 2025, and from the sounds of it, they caused havoc in fall camp and the three scrimmages. The Cardinals' defensive line had an excellent spring and fall camp, and Brohm praised them after scrimmages, proving that it is translating to 11v11.

Like he said, though, now it must transition to real games. He emphasized at the end of the message that the defensive line is hungry and they understand what lies ahead of them. He wants them to be more physical on the line, and for the Cardinals to beat Miami, Clemson, and SMU, the defensive line must provide pressure on those elite quarterbacks and win the trenches.

The Cards' defense is taking steps in the right direction as Brohm praised both the secondary and the defensive line. Louisville knows how dominant its linebackers are, so hearing good news on the other two groups is music to Louisville fans' ears.
