Louisville football hired Jeff Brohm back in 2022, and he has been the head coach of the Cardinals for the past three seasons. The Cardinals continue to turn heads and come close in the ACC race, but Louisville has never been able to achieve its No. 1 goal of winning the program's first ACC Title and clinching a berth to their first College Football Playoffs.
Louisville made it to the ACC Championship Game in 2023, but since then, they have not returned. Now, Brohm had to completely rebuild his offense, including his quarterback position, and, looking ahead, he made it clear he is excited about this 2026-27 team.
There is a lot to be excited for with this team, whether that is the players he brought it, the players he was able to return, but Brohm made it clear it is the team's hunger that excites him the most.
Jeff Brohm reveals what excites him for the upcoming season
This week is ACC Media Day in Charlotte, and yesterday, Louisville and Brohm took the stage to answer the media questions. One of the questions was a typical one, but one that Louisville fans were interested in hearing, and that was simply: what excites you the most about this team?
“I think this team is hungry,” Brohm stated on Thursday. “I think we realize we have come close in multiple years. I think we have been able to retain some key players, and also add some great additions that are coming here with a purpose, and they want to play football at the highest level. For us, with the schedule we have, we have the opportunity to show what we are made of.”

Brohm added over 32 transfers from the Transfer Portal, including multiple 4-stars like starting quarterback Lincoln Kienholz, multiple 4-star wide receivers in Tre Richardson and Lawayne McCoy, 4-star running back Marquise Davis, and elite 4-star tight end, Brody Foley.
The Cardinals also, of course, avoided a disaster and found a way to keep their All-ACC running back, Isaac Brown. More notable names the Cards were able to retain were on the defensive end, as they brought back elite edge rushers in Clev Lubin and AJ Green; at linebacker, Stanquan Clark, Antonio Watts, and TJ Capers; and in the secondary, Tayon Holloway.
Louisville has proven they can win big-time games as they defeated Notre Dame in 2023, Clemson in 2024, and Miami this past season, but now Brohm and Louisville have to use this hunger and put together a full season. Many reporters and analysts believe the Cardinals are one of three teams that can win the ACC this year, and for that to happen, the Cardinals have to start fast as they play Ole Miss in Week 1 and SMU in Week 3.
It is an exciting time to be a Louisville football fan, and Brohm made it clear this could be an exciting year for the Cardinals' fans.
