Louisville football recruiting is showing no sign of slowing down, and the Cardinals are turning heads nationwide. The Cards have landed five 4-star recruits for their 2027 recruiting class, including the most recent Kentucky native, Ja’Hyde Brown.
3 football targets who could commit to Louisville after Ja'Hyde Brown's commitment
The Cardinals usually don’t have a top-25 recruiting class, as in the past three years, Louisville has finished No. 49, No. 76, and No. 63 in the country. However, this 2027 class feels different in the early stages. Jeff Brohm and Vince Marrow are working together this spring for the first time, and the duo has really stepped up the Cardinals' ability to recruit, and the payoff is showing with this historic 2027 class.
Louisville football's 2027 recruiting class is trending to make history
Louisville is landing multiple 4-stars this spring, and they are doing so over SEC, Big 10, and ACC powerhouses. The Cardinals are a legitimate threat right now to land some elite 4-stars in this 2027 recruiting class, and they have teams quickly taking notice that this isn’t the same Louisville as the previous years.
Louisville football has nine commitments as of April 1, and the Cardinals are currently ranked as high as No. 7 in 247Sports' 2027 Recruit Football Team Rankings, with an average Composite grade of 89.25. While it is still early in the recruiting stage for the 2027 class and there is still plenty of time until the early signing period in December, right now, Brohm has this class trending toward making history as the best recruiting class in Louisville football history.
The Cardinals' best recruiting class was in 2006, when it ranked No. 24 in the nation. Since then, Louisville has earned only a top-25 class once, in 2023, when it ranked No. 25. However, Brohm and Marrow have been making noise from the beginning with this 2027 class, and many seem to think Louisville is making a strong case for a historic class.
Right now, with the Cardinals ranked No. 7 in the nation, they are ahead of big-time programs like Michigan, Georgia, Texas, Miami, Oregon, and many other Power Four giants. The Cardinals' ranking ahead of these powerhouse programs proves this program is trending toward becoming a CFP contender and competing with the best of the best.
Louisville’s 2027 recruiting class star is Louisville native and 4-star cornerback Allen Evans. The 4-star ranks as high as No. 69 in the nation, and marks the sixth highest commitment in program history. Once Louisville earned his commitment over Alabama, Penn State, and other powerhouse programs, the Cardinals have seen the dominoes fall their way.
Now, Louisville has two other Kentucky natives, 4-star commitments Brown and Jordan Haskins, and two Ohio natives, 4-star commitments Chuck Alexander and D'Angelo White. The Cardinals are in contention for many more 4-stars, as even just yesterday, Marrow posted on his social media, “This next one is going to have you turning your head,” which has the Cardinals fans on the edge of their seats, wondering who is about to commit to Louisville next.
So, Louisville isn’t going anywhere, and the Cardinals are showing no sign of slowing down. Louisville’s class ranks No. 7 in the nation, and it is trending to shatter the program’s record for the best recruiting class, marking another sign this program is trending in the right direction under Brohm’s leadership.
