Louisville football is taking on the Clemson Tigers this Friday in an ACC showdown. The game will be on Friday, Nov. 14, in a crucial ACC matchup that Louisville wants to win if it wants to keep its slim chances of playing in the ACC Championship game.

The Cards are coming off a heartbreaking loss to Cal last Saturday, and if they want any chance of making it back to Charlotte, they must win out. With Louisville eyeing a massive bounce-back game against a solid Clemson team, the Cardinals are hoping to hear some good news from key players on the injury report. Well, Jeff Brohm addressed two key players this morning, and while Isaac Brown isn't likely to play, it appears Stanquan Clark might be.

Jeff Brohm gives injury update on Isaac Brown and Stanquan Clark

Brohm addressed the media this week during his weekly Monday press conference, and when previewing the Tigers, he highlighted two key players. Louisville learned they will be without their star running back for "a while" as he suffered a leg injury against Virginia Tech. When Brohm discussed Brown and his chances of playing this Friday night, he stated that he was "not optimistic."

As for Clark, Brohm gave another injury update on the star linebacker, and this could be the week Clark finally returns to the field.

"He has been progressing, and we are going to try and get him ready for this game," Brohm stated Monday morning.

Clark has missed every game since Week 2 when he went down in the fourth quarter against James Madison. The star linebacker was second on the team in tackles last year with an impressive 76, and also added a sack, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles. He would be a massive addition to this Cardinals defense that has struggled recently.

So, while it is crushing to hear Brown is most likely, it is excellent to hear Brohm state that they are going to try to have him ready for this game. Over the last couple of weeks, Clark has progressed in the injury report. He was first ruled out against Virginia Tech, then listed as questionable for the previous week, and was ultimately out. However, after Brohm's comments, Louisville fans are beginning to think that this weekend, the star linebacker might make his return. The first injury report is expected to be released on Thursday night.
